Flipping Car Stunt
The Flipping Stunt Car is a piece of show action equipment that simulates a car (or truck cab) being thrown and flipped in the air by an explosion. Fire and smoke effects hide the fact from the audience that the car is attached from underneath to a hydraulically driven armature that rolls in an arc across an inclined plane. As the armature rotates, it picks up the car from the ground and rolls it one full revolution before the car drops back down to the ground. A large hydraulic ram moves the armature through its arc, and a curved rack and pinion gear ensure that the roll occurs precisely the same way through each actuation. The first Flipping Stunt Car built by R&S was in 2011 and is used in Mirage Entertainment’s “COUNTDOWN” show in Chimelong Paradise Park in China. A second Stunt Truck Flip Rig was built in 2014 for Mirage Entertainment’s Binhai Aircraft Carrier Park Stunt Show in China.
